Advocacy

I advocated for ethical practices at my place of employment through participation in the ethics committee, and for patients and nursing staff through leadership of Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) committee, through 2017. In 2018, I became involved with Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Society and other UCF-sponsored volunteer activities that serve and fundraise for medically needy people. Through a Health Policy course, I have become more involved in advocacy for safe nurse-patient ratios, expanded insurance coverage for low-income children and telehealth services to rural communities, and broadly-encompassing nurse practitioner scope of practice law changes in Florida to the extent of training, education, and experience. I also practiced advocacy for ending the cruelty of greyhound racing and its ties to the gambling industry in Florida, a proposal which passed ballot in November 2018.
